Seesaws & Sunsets

What if the goal was never to get over it?
We tend to talk about grief as something we need to work through, move past, or eventually leave behind.
As if there's a point where we can finally say, “Well, that's that...Done.”
But maybe grief doesn't really work that way.
A person. A relationship. A friendship. A version of ourselves we once knew.
Some things leave a mark on us. And maybe they're not meant to be erased.
Maybe our hearts grow around them instead.
Not because the loss gets smaller, but because our capacity to carry it grows.
We learn to hold it a little differently.
A little lighter, perhaps.
And maybe that's a bit like art. Not every mark can be erased, and not every mark needs to be.
Maybe those marks are simply part of the picture now. And there's still so much more to it.
Maybe...with time, faith, and a few wise, steady people beside us, we learn to loosen our grip just enough to make room for what's still possible.
Because we don't have to stop carrying what we've lost to keep moving forward.
There's still more to discover, more to experience, and more of ourselves to become.
With Compassion,
Kiley
